Nickel
Pure nickel has a silvery shine and, like iron, can be polished, forged, welded, rolled into sheets and drawn into wires. Thanks to its chemical resistance, it is used mainly as protection against corrosion and in steel refinement. Nickel is also used to a lesser extent in the manufacture of coins, containers, kitchen appliances and devices for chemical laboratories. The majority of world production is extracted from iron ores containing nickel and copper, such as pentlandite in Russia, Australia, Canada and Cuba.
At Geberit, nickel is used as an alloy component for piping systems and actuator plates made of stainless steel.
