Zinc

This bluish-white, brittle metal was already known in antiquity as an alloy component for manufacturing brass. Zinc itself, however, was first discovered as a discrete metal in the 14th century in India. Zinc ore is mainly found in China, Peru, Australia, Canada, the USA, Mexico and South Africa.

Zinc is extracted mainly from zinc sulfide ore, which is transformed into zinc oxide in an open-air roasting process and then processed further. Geberit uses zinc in actuator plates. Among other things, the metal is used for corrosion protection in GIS profiles, Kombifix and Duofix frames and piping systems.
